EL AL Israel Airlines and Alaska Airlines just announced that they are expanding their current relationship to include point reciprocity. You may recall that a codeshare agreement between the two airlines just became effective. The partnership between EL AL and Alaska Airlines allows customers to continue their journeys between North America and Israel using connections on both airlines. What's more, the announcement that came this week means that customers can now officially earn miles when they fly with a partner airline.
The deal only gets sweeter as you learn more. It turns out that base miles flown with EL AL will also count toward elite status in the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program. What's more, customers traveling with EL AL are now able to redeem their EL AL Matmid miles when booking future Alaska Airlines flights.
The bottom line is that Alaska Airlines and EL AL are now offering more opportunities than ever before when it comes to scooping up direct flights between the West Coast of the United States and Tel Aviv. A new route between San Francisco and Tel Aviv is about to make a lot of travelers very happy. EL AL will now operate flights between Tel Aviv and San Francisco three times per week using the airline's state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliner plane.
Flights out of Tel Aviv will depart on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Departure is at 1:05 a.m. and the expected arrival time in San Francisco is 6:00 a.m. Each flight will last just under 15 hours. Flights from San Francisco to Tel Aviv will operate on Monday and Wednesday. They will depart at 8:00 p.m. and arrive at 7:40 p.m. the following day. A Saturday flight will depart San Francisco at 10:45 p.m. and arrive in Tel Aviv at 10:25 p.m. the next day.
