Alaska Airlines made it official the carrier is looking forward to becoming a oneworld member airline by summer 2021. The oneworld membership along with enhanced partnership with American Airlines will allow passengers to connect to over 1,200 destinations worldwide.

Alaska Airlines further stated that it will continue its codeshare program with American Airlines and that this program will be further expanded to include international flights departing from Seattle and Los Angeles.

Additionally, Elite Members of American's AAdvantage frequent flyer program and Alaska's Mileage Plan frequent flyer program will earn miles across both airlines and will be able to cash in rewards for either airline. Elite members will also have access to all American Admirals Clubs and Alaska's Lounges.

This is the perfect time for Alaska Airlines to join the oneworld alliance. As of April 2, 2020, the program will include Royal Air Maroc as a partner, enhancing flights throughout Africa. American Airlines will also introduce a new fight between Philadelphia and Casablanca.

Alaska Airlines intends to become a fully participating member of the oneworld alliance. The carrier believes this will positively boost passenger experience as well as provide more opportunities for travelers wanting to reach worldwide destinations seamlessly.
