American Airlines has announced that the carrier will be adding new routes to its network from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) in time for spring break 2019. The carrier is extremely pleased that its American Airlines hub at Chicago O'Hare International Airport has been named the best-connected U.S. airport and a leading international hub in OAG's 2018 Megahubs U.S. Index. Internationally, Chicago O'Hare International Airport is in the #2 spot, trailing only behind London's Heathrow Airport.

American Airlines will operate Saturday service to Key West (EYW) from February 16 to September 5 using the Embraer E175 aircraft. In addition, the carrier will operate Saturday service to Pensacola (PNS) and Destin-Fort Walton Beach (VPS) using the Embraer E175 aircraft from March 9 to September 5. During the same period, American Airlines will also operate Saturday service to Panama City Beach (ECP) using the Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft. Tickets for these routes to Florida from Chicago will be made available for purchase soon.

Chicago O'Hare International Airport is expanding and so is American Airlines at its Chicago hub. American Airlines has recently opened five new gates at Chicago O'Hare and is committed to investing into the airport, increasing connectivity and providing travelers with more flight options, more seats. The legacy carrier is poised to unveil a new hangar at the airport before 2019 comes to a close and start work soon on the new global terminal at Chicago O'Hare.

This year alone, American Airlines has or will launch service to 18 new destinations, including Honolulu, Hawaii (HNL), Charleston, South Carolina (CHS), Vancouver, British Columbia (YVR) and Venice, Italy (VCE). And just last month, American Airlines announced that it will be launching summer service to Athens, Greece, from its Chicago hub in 2019. The Chicago-Athens service will be operated on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

Chicago is, after all, the first U.S. city to offer direct flights to every continent (except Antarctica). Even United's Polaris Lounge at Chicago O'Hare has been recognized as the best Business Class lounge in the country.

In other news, American Airlines will also be adding two seasonal routes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) to Grand Rapids and Madison beginning January 6, 2019 through April 1, 2019. The Phoenix-Grand Rapids service will be offered daily on its Airbus A319 aircraft while the Phoenix-Madison service will be operated daily by Mesa Airlines using the Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft. Tickets for these routes are already on sale.
