The minds and movers at American Airlines have been very busy. The carrier just launched several new routes at the start of this month. The new routes are putting more options on the table for travelers flying out of several of the country's top hubs this summer. Here's a look at some of the newly launched routes:
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Bologna (BLQ)
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Berlin Tegel (TXL)
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Dubrovnik (DBV)
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Munich (MUC)
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Santo Domingo Las Americas (SDQ)
- Charlotte Douglas (CLT) to Santo Domingo Las Americas (SDQ)
- LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Aruba (AUA)
A busy summer of adding routes is actually just beginning for American Airlines. The carrier has plans to add 25 new routes in total, including 10 domestic routes that have already been launched.
Majority of the new additions are being introduced to accommodate the huge increase in travelers heading to international destinations during the busy summer season. Travelers should also know that new flights to Philadelphia and New York from Halifax are set to begin taking off on June 13 and June 15.
It's worth noting that American's new flights to Dubrovnik and Bologna make the carrier the only one to offer direct service to those two locations from North America. It appears that the airline is ready to begin offering more service to mid-sized cities throughout Europe after years of trimming routes in response to high fuel costs and economic hindrances.
There are also some new routes to look forward to once summer is over and warm-weather locations are in demand. American will begin adding new routes from Dallas/Fort Worth to Huatulco and Acapulco in Mexico in December.
