Those looking to enjoy the breathtaking landscape of the majestic Southern Alps, rejoice! American Airlines is thrilled to announce the carrier will soon offer nonstop service between the United States and New Zealand's South Island. The carrier plans to launch the only nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Christchurch, New Zealand (CHC), beginning late October next year.

American Airlines plans to operate the seasonal Los Angeles-Christchurch route thrice weekly from October 25, 2020 through March 26, 2021 on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. For those who are wondering, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner features 20 Flagship Business seats and 28 Premium Economy seats, perfect for customers looking to enjoy additional comfort for the long-haul 13-hour flight.

The aircraft also offers 138 Main Cabin seats alongside 48 Main Cabin Extra seats. All passengers can look forward to an assortment of inflight entertainment options aboard, along with access to power at every seat.

From Christchurch, passengers who want to get to Wellington, New Zealand's capital city located in New Zealand's North Island can connect via Qantas and Jetstar. Those looking to get to Melbourne, Australia can connect via Qantas and Jetstar at Christchurch, too. These unique one-stop connections are new flight options that will soon be available to passengers flying from Los Angeles with American Airlines.

While American Airlines currently offers seasonal service between Los Angeles and Auckland, New Zealand's major city nestled in the northern region of the country's North Island, the airline will add new service from its Dallas Fort Worth hub to Auckland International Airport (AKL) next year. The seasonal Dallas Fort Worth-Auckland service will run from October 25, 2020 through March 27, 2021.

The newly added nonstop Dallas Fort Worth-Auckland route will be operated using American Airlines' Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The Boeing 787-9 plane offers 30 seats in Flagship Business, 21 in Premium Economy, 36 in Main Cabin Extra and the remaining 198 in Main Cabin. With the launch of the nonstop Dallas Fort Worth-Auckland service, customers from more than 70 cities across the United States can enjoy a new one-stop option to get to Auckland.

Tickets are not on sale yet at this time. The seasonal LAX–AKL flights beginning in October 2020 will be available for purchase starting November 9, 2019. As for the new LAX–CHC and DFW–AKL flights, tickets will be made available for purchase beginning November 30, 2019.
