There's a new lounge option for Star Alliance travelers in Thailand. Turkish Airlines recently opened a new lounge at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). The lounge is available to international departing passengers with Business Class or First Class boarding passes from Star Alliance carriers. In addition, all travelers with the Star Alliance Gold card will be admitted to the lounge as long as they are using a Star Alliance carrier. That's the case even if a particular airline directs a traveler to another default lounge.

The new Turkish Airlines lounge in Bangkok is located in Concourse D near Gate D8. The lounge is open 24 hours a day. It offers a fully modern and updated space where travelers can unwind. One standout feature inside the lounge is the long row of windows that creates tons of natural light. You'll also find plenty of seating, a special television zone and a bar area. There's also a quiet area where guests can rest or get some work done while waiting for a flight.

The fact that Turkish Airlines only operates two flights per day out of Bangkok means that the lounge is going to be immune to many of the overcrowding issues that are currently impacting airport lounges around the world. The daytime hours should be especially quiet since both of the airline's daily Bangkok flights are in the evening. However, Bangkok's airport is served by a total of 14 Star Alliance carriers. Qualifying Star Alliance passengers seeking an updated alternative to the existing Thai Airways lounge in Bangkok are sure to be excited about this new addition.
