Besides having the flexibility to redeem their accumulated miles for rewards digitally, including award travel, Delta Vacations, SkyMiles Experiences, access to Delta Sky Clubs and gift cards, Delta SkyMiles members can now use their miles to purchase seat upgrades. Delta Air Lines is extremely pleased to be offering its loyal members yet another way to utilize their miles the way its customers like it.

Instead of using cash when you feel like having more legroom or enjoying a premium Delta experience the next time you fly with Delta, you can use your miles to pay for your seat upgrades. The best part? Feel free to use your miles to upgrade a single leg or multiple legs of a journey - the choice is up to you!

While the newly rolled out feature is great for Delta SkyMiles members who have lots of miles stashed in their accounts, those who have fewer miles can benefit as well. Upgrading to a seat with more legroom will require far less miles than redeeming an award travel, don't you think? This is the very fact that makes Delta SkyMiles that much more valuable as Delta expands the number of ways members can use their miles.

With this newly introduced self-service option, Delta SkyMiles members can simply go online to delta.com to purchase their seat upgrades using miles after booking their tickets. Delta SkyMiles members will have the ability to do this via the carrier's award-winning Fly Delta app in the early part of 2019 though no set date has been given at this time.

Regardless of where or how the original Delta airfare was purchased, Delta SkyMiles members can log into delta.com to purchase Delta Premium Select, Delta One, Delta Comfort+, or First Class as an add-on, or ancillary purchase, as available. Keep in mind only flight segments that are operated by Delta are eligible for purchasing upgrades after a ticket has been booked, subject to availability.
