Planning a magical vacation for your family just got a little more expensive if you're a regular Disney visitor. Disney just raised the prices of its annual passes. The move comes just a few months before the opening of the highly anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios. You may remember that Disney already increased many of its ticket prices by as much as 10 percent in January.

How much will an annual Disney pass cost you now? The cost of top-tier admission is going up by almost 18 percent. Here's a breakdown of what the increases look like:

  • Platinum passes will now cost $1,119.
  • Platinum Plus passes will now cost $1,219.
  • Disney's Premier Annual Pass will now cost $2,099.

The good news is that standard tickets aren't being impacted by the new changes as of right now. The price increase for annual passes certainly isn't good news for vacationers. However, these pricey passes can still be good options for some park visitors. Walt Disney World annual passes come with benefits like access to tours and parking. There are also discounts for dining and merchandise.

Of course, this is one of the best years to invest in an annual pass because some lucky holders will be able to check out Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge before it officially opens this summer. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will open at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Aug. 29. The Star Wars Land located at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California is already welcoming throngs of visitors.
