EasyJet has been ranked for offering the best overall value for discounted air travel in the UK. This may come as a surprise to many people in this area who automatically assume that Ryanair is the least expensive airline to use.

A Skyscanner study was conducted that took into account cost of the seat, cost for checking baggage, cost for reserving a seat and cost for food while in fight. Hands down easyJet ranked as the best value in the market. What is even more astonishing is that Ryanair did not even make it into the top eight.

EasyJet is the right airline to use if you are taking any baggage with you on your trip. A new restriction for baggage by Ryanair has also made its baggage fees increase. Ryanair seems to only be the right choice for someone who is just jumping on a plane and has nothing more than a hand held carry-on bag, and doesn't fuss about where he or she is seated.

Coming close to easyJet was Eurowings followed by a tie for third place by Swiss and KLM. What may have surprised many people is that Lufthansa came in at number six. Many people associate cheaper fares with smaller airlines and not large legacy carriers like Lufthansa.

The results of the study speak for themselves. When you are going to travel, do your research for the best price. Take into consideration everything that is going to be important to your travel such as reserved seating or the need to check in baggage. Once you have established what is necessary for your flight, search for prices based on these needs and not just the cost of the seat.
