Frontier Airlines has announced a massive expansion to its routes that will begin to take place over the next several months. Overall, Frontier will add 85 new routes and 21 cities to its network. Majority of the new Frontier flights will originate in Denver, the hometown of the carrier and where its largest hub is located.

This expansion will also include a significant increase in the number of non-stop flights to destinations that Frontier already services. All in all, Frontier will now reach 82 separate cities throughout the United States.

Frontier has stated that this expansion will now bring the number of routes it serves to well over 1,000 by the summer of 2018. This is more than double the amount of routes the airline currently services. This will let passengers to more easily connect flights between destinations and remain on Frontier flights throughout their trip.

Barry Biffle, Frontier CEO, shared that this rapid expansion will enable the airline to offer service to more individuals while keeping rates very low altogether. The carrier's CEO went on further to explain that by adding so many new cities to its offerings, it can reach more people with its low fares and help boost the number of flights that people take each year.

How Frontier Enabled This Large Expansion

Frontier has emphasized that its expansion is based on careful planning and by changing flight schedules to some of the cities it already serves. Frontier has decreased the number of flights to some areas while increasing their flight schedule to areas higher in demand. A few destinations will now only be serviced a few times a week instead of several times daily.

In addition to changing flight routes to better meet demand, Frontier will also add 13 more Airbus planes to its fleet by the end of 2018. Frontier only uses Airbus planes for its fleet, which allows it to seat the most passengers comfortably to any destination.
