Hyatt Hotels just extended its change and cancellation policy, and it will now be effective for stays through July 31, 2021. According to Hyatt, with some limited exceptions, reservations made from July 1, 2020 and beyond, all the way until July 31, 2021, can be canceled without any penalty. The cancellation policy is especially generous when you consider that cancellations can be done up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival.

If you have an existing reservation made before July 1, 2020 for an arrival through July 31, 2020, you can also cancel it up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival, and again at no charge.

If you want to make a change to your reservation or cancel it, you can do so via hyatt.com or by using the World of Hyatt app. If you make a change to an existing reservation, it will be based on availability, and you may have to pay more for any rate differences.

Hyatt wants to reopen its doors safely and is doing everything it can to gain its guests' trust. The hotel giant has introduced its Global Care and Cleanliness Commitment, which improves upon its existing protocols, and include:

  • Hyatt will introduce the GBAC STAR™ accreditation system at all its worldwide properties. This is a performance-based prevention program to ensure that all hotels are properly disinfected and cleaned to the highest standards.
  • Every location will have at least one Hygiene Manager on site who will ensure that the hotel follows its new guidance and protocols by September 2020.
  • Hyatt will continue working with health and industry advisors to devise a more holistic and safe hotel experience for its guests and staff.
