Lufthansa and SWISS have joined forces with Singapore Airlines to give travelers more rewards and perks. However, the new perks will only apply to business travelers. Eligible travelers can now earn HighFlyer points in the Singapore Airlines rewards program when they travel using qualifying flights from Lufthansa and SWISS. Flights that qualify cover routes between Singapore, Germany and Switzerland. The new arrangement between the three airlines became effective on April 2.

While the new point-earning perks from Singapore Airlines only became effective this week, they have actually been years in the making. Singapore Airlines entered a joint agreement with Lufthansa and SWISS back in November of 2015. The venture was created to help the airlines cooperate in essential markets throughout Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia.

Business travelers hoping to earn points will need to make their reservations directly through Singapore Airlines or SilkAir. Flights booked with Lufthansa or Swiss will need to be booked using a Singapore Airlines or SilkAir codeshare number. Business travelers can now look forward to earning HighFlyer points for every dollar spent on eligible tickets through Lufthansa and Swiss.

The HighFlyer program from Singapore Airlines is a special program for small and medium enterprises. It can be utilized by enterprises with up to 30 employees. This business-oriented program isn't completely separate from the popular Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program. Any enterprise wishing to take part in the HighFlyer program must make sure that participating employees are registered as KrisFlyer members. HighFlyer points can only be accrued by eligible KrisFlyer travelers.
