Marriott has big plans for Las Vegas. The hotel brand just announced plans to develop a resort on the famous Las Vegas Strip. It will work in partnership with a global development firm to complete the project. The Drew Las Vegas will offer 4,000 rooms, a casino, retail space, dining and 500,000 square feet worth of meeting and convention space when it opens at the end of 2020.
The Marriott brand already operates several hotels throughout Las Vegas. However, this new property will be unique because it will be a dual-flag resort. The resort will actually consist of two hotels. Guests will be able to book rooms under the EDITION flag or with JW Marriott when planning to stay at the property. The resort will mark the introduction of the EDITION brand to Las Vegas. In addition, it will bring forth the debut of the first JW Marriott to arrive on the The Strip. Marriott won't actually manage all aspects of the resort's launch. A company called Two Blackbirds Hospitality is being brought in to collaborate with Marriott to oversee the launch and operations of the resort.
The Drew will be located at the site of the defunct Fontainebleau that was once set to dazzle The Strip. That project was abandoned back in 2009 due to economic reasons. Marriott is relying on the more than 100 million members in its customer database to help to ensure that The Drew Las Vegas becomes one of the hottest resorts in Sin City. However, it will face competition from highly anticipated new constructions like Resorts World, Wynn Paradise Park, the Sphere and All Net Resort and Arena.
