Who wants some exciting ship news? We have big updates coming out of both Carnival and Norwegian. Both cruise operators recently took possession of new ships. Let's start with what's going on with Carnival's newest beauty. The new Carnival Panorama was just delivered to Carnival. The Italian-built ship comes from a company called Fincantieri. The ship's delivery took place during a ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy.
The Carnival Panorama has an identical layout to the existing Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon ships. The list of highly anticipated features that cruise guests can enjoy when stepping aboard the Panorama includes a trampoline park, a water park and an elevated track. The ship's expanded dining options will include Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse. Travelers can get a first taste of Carnival Panorama when it departs from Long Beach on Dec. 11. The maiden journey will bring guests to calls at Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.
Norwegian Cruise Line took possession of its new Norwegian Encore ship last week. This impressive vessel measures in at more than 1,000 feet in length. Norwegian debuted the ship using a preview cruise out of Germany on Oct. 31. The stopping point for that small voyage is Southampton, England.
American travelers will be able to try out Norwegian's newest ship relatively soon. Norwegian Encore is set to arrive in New York on Nov. 10. The ship will then sail to Miami to be part of a celebration that will feature a live performance by Kelly Clarkson. The Grammy-winning singer is actually the official godmother of the new ship. Cruise passengers traveling on Norwegian Encore will enjoy a racing track, open-air laser tag and live performances of 'Kinky Boots' on stage.
