Qatar Airways and China Southern Airlines have just signed a codeshare agreement to strengthen their cooperation. Subject to regulatory approval, the codeshare cooperation will kick in beginning January 15, 2020.

It has been revealed the codeshare agreement signed by Qatar Airways and China Southern Airlines will benefit China Southern Airlines customers. With the codeshare agreement in place, China Southern Airlines' customers will be able to book travel on flights operated by Qatar Airways from Guangzhou and Beijing to Doha, and beyond.

Through Doha, Qatar Airways' home base, passengers can further connect to over 80 destinations peppered across the Middle East, Europe and Africa. The Chinese carrier is absolutely thrilled as the codeshare agreement will greatly enhance its network in the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

While Qatar Airways offers flights between Doha and seven Greater China gateways, those who want to enjoy the carrier's award-winning Qsuite Business Class experience can only do so on the Shanghai and Beijing route as of now.

For those who don't already know, Qatar Airways acquired a 5% stake in China Southern Airlines back in December last year. It is only natural for the two airlines to deepen their partnership, especially since the Chinese travel market is booming and China Southern Airlines has one of the biggest fleets amongst major carriers globally.

That said, it remains to be seen if Qatar Airways passengers will also get to enjoy improved connectivity and flight options in time to come. The two carriers have revealed they will ‘explore more opportunities' to improve the travel experience for their customers as well as better cater to them.
