Royal Caribbean just canceled five sailings on the Liberty of the Seas. The reason given was that the ship needed more time in dry dock so it can undergo a host of planned upgrades.

Five sailings in February and March 2021 on the Liberty of the Seas are affected by the cancellation. If you are booked on one of the canceled sailings, you can rebook on another Liberty of the Seas sailing later in 2021. Or you can rebook on a Jewel of the Seas sailing during the same period. You can also choose to rebook on a totally different Royal Caribbean international sailing or just cancel the whole cruise altogether, without having to pay a penalty.

The affected sailings are as follows:

  • February 14, 2021
  • February 21, 2021
  • February 28, 2021
  • March 7, 2021
  • March 14, 2021

Affected travelers will also enjoy the same stateroom price that they paid and will get up to $400 in onboard credit. Guests booked in interior, ocean view or balcony staterooms will get a $200 credit, while those booked in suites will get $400 in credits. The onboard credits are available to guests if they choose to rebook their cruises.

The Liberty of the Seas will go into dry dock early next year. The ship will be 'Royal Amplified®'. Royal Caribbean is spending nearly a billion dollars to modernize ten cruise ships with all-new features.

Currently, Liberty of the Seas offers one-week long cruise to the Caribbean, departing from Galveston, Texas. Royal Caribbean hasn't detailed what upgrades will be made to the Liberty of the Seas, but it should be impressive as the ship is set to receive several enhancements altogether.
