Singapore Airlines has announced a couple of updates to its frequent flyer program, KrisFlyer. In a bid to improve the KrisFlyer program as well as provide more certainty for KrisFlyer members' waitlisted award flights, the award-winning carrier will be working to gradually introduce several improvements to the redemption waitlist process. The airline wants to make the award booking process more pleasant for its frequent flyer program members.

For starters, KrisFlyer members can already manage their waitlist redemption bookings online. This has just gone into effect today. All you have to do is log in to to manage your bookings. You may also choose alternative flights available for immediate ticketing. Easy peasy. KrisFlyer members should be very pleased with this update as it gives you fuss-free, convenient access to managing your waitlist redemption bookings with just a few clicks in the comfort of your own home or even on your mobile devices.

That's not all, the airline will also keep you in the loop regarding your waitlisted flights through email periodically, beginning July 18, 2019. Just in case you were wondering, these automatic reminder emails will be sent at intervals of 9, 6, 3 and 1 month, as well as 3 weeks before flight departure date. Should you prefer not to receive these notifications about your waitlist redemption bookings, you can easily opt-out and modify your preference after you have logged into your KrisFlyer account.

There will also be changes to confirmation and cancellation of waitlist redemption bookings. Singapore Airlines has revealed that waitlisting for redemption flights will be available up to 3 weeks before departure. KrisFlyer members will be informed of the outcome of their waitlist redemptions at least 14 days before flight departure, starting with flights departing from August 14 of this year onwards.

Keep in mind all successful waitlist redemptions will be confirmed and unsuccessful ones canceled 2 weeks prior to the flight. Additionally, take note the cancellation applies to all waitlist redemptions with the exception of redemption upgrades, which will remain available up to the point of flight departure.
