Are you a frequent traveler on Singapore Airlines? The award-winning Singapore-based carrier has just announced it will be introducing a series of updates to its frequent flyer program, KrisFlyer, in 2019. The airline shared that the soon-to-be implemented enhancements are carefully designed to improve customers' redemption experience, so that's great news to start the new year with, don't you think?

For starters, KrisFlyer members can look forward to more upgrade options. In particular, upgrades from Economy Class to Business Class for flights with a Premium Economy Class cabin are now available. Also, keep in mind the number of KrisFlyer miles required to upgrade from Economy to Business Class will be the same regardless if the aircraft sports a Premium Economy cabin or not.

Some adjustments have also been made to the Singapore Airlines and SilkAir award and upgrade charts. Take note the revised charts apply to redemption as well as redemption upgrade bookings ticketed on or after January 24, 2019!

To make your redemption process more convenient and pleasant, KrisFlyer members will be able to view available redemption options across a 7-day window starting from January 31, 2019. This enhancement is a godsend as it lets you view relevant available redemption inventory at a glance. It is also especially handy should you need to select alternative travel dates. How do you utilize this new feature? All you have to do is check the ‘Flexible travel dates' box when searching for redemption availability.

As though the above-mentioned aren't exciting enough, Singapore Airlines wants to give its customers more certainty when it comes to their waitlisted flight redemptions. While the new feature will only kick in sometime in the second quarter of the year, nobody would say no to being informed of the outcome of their waitlist 14 days before the flight. The airline shared that all successful waitlist redemptions will be confirmed at least two weeks prior to the flight while unsuccessful ones will be canceled.

What's more, KrisFlyer members can keep their eyes peeled for more discounted redemptions for last minute travel. Aptly named KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes, this program feature will become a permanent fixture sometime in February this year. KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes provides members with significant discounts off regular award redemption rates every month to select destinations across the Singapore Airlines and SilkAir network, for travel the following month. This should be splendid news if you thrive on spontaneity and fun.
