Southwest Airlines is spreading some cheer this holiday season by expanding its routes. The new routes will be added by the end of November. Travelers heading to destinations during the holiday season from San Jose can look forward to 98 departures to more than 24 destinations throughout the United States and Mexico. One piece of big news is that Southwest is increasing its weekday roundtrip flights between San Jose and Portland by adding two more flights per day. In addition, the route between San Jose and Orange County will now have one more flight per weekday. There are also many more routes for travelers to look forward to around the country.

New nonstop service from Burbank to Houston and Chicago was just launched by Southwest. That service will be available Sundays through Fridays. Southwest is also adding some more routes for travelers in the Washington, D.C. area. Nonstop service between Oklahoma City and the District of Columbia began this week. In addition, service between Washington, D.C. and Nashville will increase to offer four weekday roundtrip flights. Service between Washington, D.C. and Dallas is increasing to five weekday flights.

This week also marks the start of Southwest's direct service between New York's LaGuardia and New Orleans. Service between New York LaGuardia and Dallas is increasing to five weekday roundtrip flights. Service between New York LaGuardia and Denver is increasing to three weekday roundtrip flights. In addition, service between New York LaGuardia and Kansas City is increasing to two weekday roundtrip flights.

Travelers can also use Southwest to get to some fun warm-weather destinations outside the country this winter. Seasonal daily service on a number of popular routes kicks off this month. Here's what's back:

  • Denver to Puerto Vallarta
  • Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood to Belize
  • Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood to Grand Cayman
  • Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood to Turks and Caicos
  • Houston (Hobby) to Liberia, Costa Rica
  • St. Louis to Cancún

Saturday-only service between Nashville and Cancún, Columbus and Cancún and Indianapolis and Cancún is also back this month. What's more, Southwest passengers can enjoy new service from Chicago to Cabo San Lucas. Southwest customers have a total of 4,000 daily departures to choose from when traveling until the end of winter.
