It's more than worth it to take just a minute out of your day to sign up for Southwest's status-matching promotion if you already have elite status with another domestic airline. Elite members of Southwest's Rapid Rewards program enjoy priority boarding, same-day standby, priority check-in access, priority security access and a dedicated phone line for customer service. Elite members of the Rapid Rewards program also enjoy an earning bonus of 25 percent!

How can you have your elite status with any other carrier matched by Southwest? It's actually really simple. You just need to verify that you already have elite status with a carrier other than Southwest to complete the process.

The first thing to know is that you'll need to sign up to be a member of the Rapid Rewards program if you aren't already a member of Southwest's frequent flyer program. You can sign up for the elite status-matching promotion using Southwest's special portal or by simply emailing your name, Rapid Rewards number and a screenshot of your elite-status membership card from another airline to Southwest.

Your matched elite status in the Rapid Rewards program will be effective for one year after you sign up. Your elite membership begins the day you enroll in the promotion. Frequent travelers can have elite status extended for an additional 12 months if they complete three two-way qualifying flights or six one-way qualifying flights within 90 days of enrolling in the promotion.
