Spirit Airlines is expanding service to Colombia in 2020! Travelers now have two new destinations to visit in Colombia when flying out of Florida with the budget carrier. Service to both Barranquilla and Bucaramanga from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will be launching in April. Spirit already offers a robust roster of flights to destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Routes to cities in Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti and the Dominican Republic are already popular among Spirit customers.

Are you thinking of heading to Colombia with Spirit in the spring? The carrier's new flights to Barranquilla (BAQ) will be offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays beginning on April 23. The new flights to Bucaramanga (BGA) will be running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning on April 22.

The new routes will put Spirit in a position to serve more cities in Colombia on a direct basis than any other airline in the United States. Spirit first entered the Colombian market when it introduced flights to Cartagena (CTG) in 2008. Spirit now also offers service to Bogotá (BOG), Armenia (AXM), Cali (CLO) and Medellin (MDE).

Spirit is having a moment of big growth and expansion. The ultra-low-cost carrier recently ordered more than 100 new Airbus planes. The new aircraft will be trickling into Spirit's fleet until 2027. In addition, Spirit actually just broke ground on a new state-of-the-art headquarters in Dania Beach that will serve as a base for more than 1,000 employees.
