CLEAR is a program that allows travelers to get through airport security quickly and seamlessly, and members are usually able to speed through security in five minutes or less. The popular program is now expanding and available at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport thanks to an investment from United Airlines.

CLEAR lanes are currently in operation in both Terminals B and E at the airport, and there are plans to offer CLEAR in Terminal C in the future.

By using biometrics, CLEAR can expedite the process of getting travelers through security. At airports with CLEAR, members get into a separate lane to verify their identity either through an iris or fingerprint scan. After the flyer is verified, a CLEAR employee will walk him or her to the front of the line for regular physical screening. Additionally, for an even faster process, members of TSA PreCheck will go through screening in a TSA PreCheck line.

As part of the partnership, many frequent flyers of United can get free or discounted membership to CLEAR. MileagePlus Premier® 1K® members can enjoy complimentary CLEAR membership, while Premier Platinum, Gold and Silver members and United co-branded credit card holders can get a discount and pay $109 a year. Other MileagePlus members can enjoy CLEAR at $119 a year. Without any discount, CLEAR membership costs $179 a year.

Not only can members of CLEAR speed through security at over 60 airports in the United States, but they can also enjoy expedited screening at stadiums and other venues. Those who want to sign up for CLEAR can do so at any airport that offers the service or via the CLEAR website.
