United Airlines has announced a deal on flights to Hawaii for anyone wanting to cash in some miles. For trips taken from the mainland to Hawaii between January 7 and March 10, 2018, passengers can receive a 20 percent discount on the amount of miles needed for a seat in Economy round trip. This offer is only good for flights booked by December 8, 2018.

United has been servicing Hawaii for 70 years, and as a way to say thank you to their clients, they are reducing the number of miles needed to get to the islands during this period of time. For only 36,000 miles, you can purchase a round trip ticket to Honolulu, Maui, Kona, Lihue, or Hilo from the United States. This includes Alaska, a state not often included in airline promotions.

This offer is valid for any day of the week. You must purchase roundtrip airfare to use the promotion.
MileagePlus miles for United can be enhanced by transferring your miles/points from your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Ink Business PreferredSM credit card. This is a great way to fly to Hawaii using only earned miles and points.

It is important to shop around a little before cashing in your 36,000 miles for this offer. This is usually the off time for flights to Hawaii, and many flights from the West Coast are deeply discounted during this period. You may be able to find a flight that is very low cost and save your miles for a different, more expensive flight in the future.

Additionally, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles are also a very good bargain for this flight. You can redeem only 35,000 miles using KrisFlyer miles to take the same United flight, or 12,000 miles for a one-way flight to Hawaii on Alaska Airlines. You can also use 12,500 British Airways Avios on Alaska Airlines to fly one-way to Hawaii.
