There's a new low-cost option for flying between Mexico City and New York City. Viva Aerobus just launched daily nonstop service between the two destinations. Tickets for the route start as low as $100. Viva Aerobus plans to offer thousands of low-cost seats on flights between Mexico City and New York City during the route's first year. The airline already offers one of the cheapest ways to get to the popular resort city of Cancún from several hubs in the United States.

Viva Aerobus has every reason to pour resources into offering direct flights between Mexico City and the Big Apple. In fact, the route between Mexico City and New York City is one of the most requested options among passengers using Mexico City International Airport. Viva Aerobus is also focused on creating a very well-rounded roster of flights for its customers that expands beyond New York. The carrier would have introduced 22 new routes by the time 2018 comes to a close. What's more, the number of available seats offered by the carrier from Cancún International Airport has increased by 16 percent this year.

Some travelers may be unfamiliar with Viva Aerobus. However, this airline has big plans to become a major player in the North American airline market. Viva Aerobus has a fleet consisting of 26 Airbus A320 aircraft. The budget carrier offers a total of 102 routes to 44 destinations. It will begin connecting popular tourist destinations in Mexico with Cincinnati on Dec. 1 of this year. Flights from Mexico to North Carolina and Tennessee will begin operating on Feb. 16 of 2019.
