Southwest Airlines is going on a matching spree. The airline is making a serious effort to win over customers of other airlines by offering a status-matching challenge. Anyone who is interested can simply visit Southwest's special status-matching portal and register to experience what it's like to have Southwest's A-List status. The one catch is that you must actually have status with another airline's loyalty program in order to qualify for the promotion.

Southwest's promotion grants qualifying customers the ability to enjoy A-List status for 90 days. However, there's an opportunity to extend that status. Travelers who complete three qualifying roundtrip flights or six qualifying one-way flights will be able to extend A-List status to last for an additional 12 full months. Only revenue flights will qualify. In addition, all tickets need to be booked during the 90-day promotional period in order to qualify. That means that any tickets that have been booked prior to registering for Southwest's matching promotion won't count. However, there is the option to potentially cancel and rebook flights without penalty under Southwest's cancellation policy.

How can customers participate in Southwest's matching promotion? The first step is to sign up for Southwest's Rapid Rewards loyalty program if you aren't already a member. It will then be necessary to send an email to southwest.statusmatch@wnco.com that includes your first name, last name, Rapid Rewards number and a screenshot of your status with another carrier that is based in the United States.

Customers who qualify for status matching from Southwest have some great perks to look forward to. A-List travelers get to enjoy priority boarding, free same-day standby service, earning bonuses and access to a dedicated phone line. They also get to take advantage of Southwest's Fly By® priority check-in feature and security lane access.
